Sanctity of Life
The Lutheran Church--Missouri Synod (LCMS) believes that abortion is contrary to God’s Word and is not a moral option except in the tragic situation when it is necessary to save the life of the mother.
Since 1971--nearly two years before the U.S. Supreme Court ruled in Roe v. Wade that women have a right to abortion--the LCMS has ratified resolutions at its conventions that clearly demonstrate the Synod's pro-life position and call on Missouri Synod Lutherans to oppose the killing of unborn children. In December 1982, The Saturday Evening Post described the LCMS as having "the strongest pro-life position of any denomination."
Christ the King Lutheran Church is proud to share this position and to celebrate Life Sunday each January, when we have a special program by our Sunday School children, special bulletin inserts, and a special sermon to show our Church's commitment to God's gift of life to all.
